As we’re sure you are aware, the wedding industry has suffered a great deal during the Covid 19 pandemic. While here at Birdsall we have been lucky to be able to fill our time and space by becoming a Covid secure film location and hosting micro-weddings when able, Yorkshire wedding suppliers and small businesses have struggled.

However, many wedding businesses have adapted their offering or made use of the time to make their services bigger and better than ever in 2021! Whether you’re planning to host a wedding at Birdsall, or nearby, we wanted to shine a light on some of our favourite local suppliers and businesses, see what they’ve been up to and, most importantly, what they have coming up!

At The Dinner Party, Dan Graham

When the first lockdown of 2020 began, Masterchef Finalist and Private Chef Dan Graham had a four-month old daughter at home so he relished the opportunity to spend time with her. Dan has then moved from private catering to food product consultancy while events couldn’t go ahead but as restrictions ease he’ll be back with a bang! We love to welcome Dan to the Birdsall kitchen and have seen him create some truly guest-wowing plates at our weddings and events here. To find out more visit his website here.

Inspired Event Structures

For Director of Inspired Event Structures, Grant, he took the opportunity of a summer of cancelled events to have his first family summer holiday in 20 years! He’s kept his business going with some long term hires at Saracens and Nottingham University. He’s also been in constant dialogue with couples re-arranging dates and re-assuring them throughout. We love to see Inspired Event Structures on our lawns here at Birdsall.

So if you’re looking for a venue with space to dance the hours away outside get in touch with us and Grant at Inspired Event Structures!

Alligator Gumbo

The performers in Alligator Gumbo have been unable to work for nearly a year. The lockdowns have hit live music very hard. However, they are already taking bookings for what promises to be an exciting and fun-filled summer and beyond. Everybody is eager to commence with being able to enjoy themselves. In the time off, they have been working on expanding their set, adding more entertaining numbers from yesteryear, played, as ever, in their own infectious style. They cannot wait to be performing again as soon as possible and we can’t wait to dance to them again at Birdsall House!

Rose and Spade’s beautiful work

Rose and Spade

Florists Rose and Spade have worked on some lovely intimate weddings for 15 over the last few months. They’ve also been training with the prestigious Tattie Rose flowers.

Sadly, they planned and cancelled a lot of workshops. But, they are feeling positive now that the new roadmap has led to firmer bookings. They’ve now got lots of stylish weddings to work on – including many here at Birdsall.

Coe Catering

Once this fabulous catering company had taken care of all their couples needing to rearrange their plans, Head Chef Tom set about creating a menu that could be delivered to people’s homes. This meant they were able to keep the business going. More importantly, they made sure that they could take care of at least some of the local people who were badly affected by the restrictions, like those having to shield.  They also took the chance to get their larder stocked up with foraged items and pickles. They now have a stock of pickled wild garlic buds, sloe gin maturing well, elder flower vinegar and medlar jelly to name but a few. Sounds like heaven! When Coe Catering get back to weddings they’ve developed new dishes and we can’t wait to taste them!

Lonetree

Lonetree are no longer Lonetree but “The Yorkshire Wedding Stationer”! This fabulous company have also updated their website. The new platform allows them to offer couples the chance to access their bespoke design service. Users can order elements from the semi-custom suites to suit, as well as their illustration and calligraphy services. If you’re getting married here at Birdsall you’ll also get exclusive access within the site to make your experience of creating and ordering stationery even simpler and more personal.

Co-Director Sarah also says: “Having just sold our luxury retail led stationery company we are also delighted to have hugely increased our capacity for weddings. So, we are still able to offer availability for late Summer 2021 onwards  and much of 2022 as well! We appreciate that so many couples wedding plans have sadly been affected by Covid-19. We’re really looking forward to working with them – to provide beautiful stationery for their big day.”

Rich Reynolds Magician

Like many others in the hospitality industry Rich Reynolds Magician’s business was completely turned upside down by the pandemic.

However, during the first Lockdown he created a Virtual Magic Experience and has just performed it for the 200th time! On the weekend of 27th & 28th February he performed 19 Virtual Magic Shows!

The show has been performed for families as a lockdown treat to keep children’s spirits up. It’s also been enjoyed by Corporate Clients, notably The Science Museum in London to about 300 of their staff.

We’re so proud to say he is our “go-to” magician here at Birdsall. We can’t wait until he is back at weddings and parties here in the future!

Moss Wedding Films

Moss Wedding Films are one of our favourite videographers. Sam, the man behind the camera, loves The Wolds countryside as much as we do! He knows how to capture it perfectly. Of course, he’s not been able to film things in person that often over this last year. But, that did not stop him from winning Best Wedding Videographer in Yorkshire & North East at The Wedding Industry Awards for the third year running November! If you want to capture your day on film then head over to his website to see his award-winning work.

Being such a talented and lovely couple, Dominic Wright Photography, are already REALLY busy since the government’s roadmap out of lockdown was announced. We can’t wait to welcome them back to Birdsall! Their top tip for couples wanting to marry in luxury is think about dates outside of Saturdays. They themselves got married on a Tuesday! The people who want to be with you on your special day will be there regardless of if it’s a weekend or not!

The fabulous photographers are offering new couples that book with them for dates left in 2021 a great deal. Book and get 200 additional images to each collection and 20% off their Tokyo collection.

They said “we can’t wait to be back shooting at Birdsall. Not only is a beautifully photogenic venue with so much scope for all the seasons, it also is owned and run by the nicest team you’ll meet!” Aww right back at ya guys!

These are just a few of the wonderful wedding businesses and suppliers we work with here at Birdsall. Events Co-Ordinator, Becky, is always on hand for couple who are getting married here to make recommendations. Get in touch with her here if you’d like to make an enquiry.
