Birdsall Estate is a traditional, award winning and family run farming estate situated on the North East corner of the Yorkshire Wolds, 5 miles South of Malton and 20 miles East of York.
Originally a 12th Century Nottinghamshire family, the Willoughby’s came to Birdsall in the eighteenth century and have lived and farmed here since then. Birdsall Estate works with a keen emphasis on maintaining and enhancing the environment through efficient and sympathetic farming. We also offer one of the best and most challenging shoots in the country in an outstandingly beautiful pocket of North Yorkshire.
Birdsall House was built by the Sotheby family after the dissolution of the Monasteries in 1540. Thomas Willoughby married the heiress daughter in 1719 and the Willoughby family have been living in the house since. Successive generations of the family have made architectural changes and additions to the house and this includes work done by the celebrated Victorian architect, Anthony Salvin.
Birdsall Estate manages a property portfolio with properties to rent in Birdsall and the surrounding villages of North Grimston, Settrington, Wharram-Le-Street and Duggleby. We also have a wood yard selling and delivering cut logs locally.
Birdsall is family estate set in stunning surroundings with a fascinating history and a focus firmly on the future.
