We’re not just for weddings – a guide to using the house for your next event

3rd Mar 2022

Birdsall House is a great place to host a huge variety of events and celebrations. While we’re best known for our exclusive weddings, we’re also an event venue for a wide range of other celebrations and activities too. Our unique location means we’re easily accessible by rail and have ample car parking on site.

Once here, the setting inspires people and brings them together. In this blog, we take a look at the different ways you can use Birdsall for your next event. If you have any questions, please contact our dedicated events office on 01944 316000.

The Long Hall

On entering the house, guests come through The Long Hall – the base of the original 1540s house built by the Sotheby family. It gives a stunning but friendly first impression with the two Jacobean style fireplaces creating a homely feel amongst the grandeur. For events where people are meeting for the first time, this is a great place for them to greet each other. We often serve welcome drinks and distribute name badges and ‘goodie bags’ at promotional events in here.

The Dining Room

We’ve used this room for all sorts of events, from wine tasting and AGMs to fashion shows. The room lends itself really well if you have a speaker – with great acoustics and plenty of space without being overwhelming. Of course, our commercial kitchen if just off this room, so it’s also a great place to end the day with dinner. We also use this room for cookery workshops.

The Ballroom

The ‘piece de resistance’ of Birdsall, mainly due to its versatility. From dinners, speakers and concerts, to a break-out room for conversation and ideas, the ballroom is the perfect backdrop to any event. It’s very well-lit so even on a cloudy day it offers a great escape from the day-to-day and is therefore perfect for motivating teams and encouraging new ideas.

The Oval Room

Said to be the same width as the length of an exceptional jump made by Henry, 5th Lord Middleton’s horse, this room is connected to the ballroom which lends itself well to a myriad of events. It’s the perfect space for people to socialise before a speaking event or larger dinner and the grand piano and views mean it’s also the perfect setting for evening events or smaller dining experiences too.

The small dining room

A pretty room looking out over the gardens, this room a great space for smaller meetings and is often also used as a dressing room for film and photo shoots. It can also act as a really impressive green room for speakers waiting their turn at events!

The gardens

Well, we couldn’t create a post about the different ways you can entertain at Birdsall without mentioning our beautiful gardens. We even have a lake behind the house. We have relationships with a range of marquee and outdoor events companies too. These are perfect should you wish to make more of the outdoor space at your event, whatever the weather. Our gardens are the perfect retreat for team building activities such as clay pigeon shooting, wild swimming, yoga and more.
