Every bride wants to give her wedding shoes some serious thought for the day. It’s really important to consider the grounds of where you’re getting married and what you want to do on the big day. Of course, your bridal shoes need to match your style. But, you don’t want to be hobbling and in pain before you’ve even sat for the wedding breakfast!
Our brides love to use the front lawn and the twelfth century monastery ruins for welcome drinks, games with younger guests and photos. The time of year that you’re getting married should influence your shoe choice. Warm, balmy summer days are perfect for an open-toe shoe. You might want to consider a closed-toe and a wider heel if you’re getting married in spring or autumn.
Diana McMann of local, luxury bridal shop, The Little Pearl Bridal Boutique suggests two great options:

Whether you’re walking down the aisle in the Church within our grounds or for a civil ceremony in our ballroom the chances are you want to feel stylish and glamourous with a dreamy pair of heels. BUT, you don’t have to stay in them all day! Many of our couples opt to use our grounds for a yurt, tepee or marquee for dancing into the evening. There can be lots of ways the suppliers we work with can ensure you stay on firm ground and don’t get wet. But if you’re going for more of a festival feel why not choose some glamorous wellies? We love these from Evercreature…

You might want to stick with traditional ivory for your dress but if you want to add some colour, your shoes are a great way to do this. We’ve seen gold, red and pink here at Birdsall…these worn by Alex when she married here in July 2018 complimented her dress beautifully and made for stunning photographs.

Sofia, who married her husband James here last year and also held her Mehndi here opted for many different wedding shoes throughout the day. After all, who doesn’t love an outfit change? We love her choice of Christian Louboutin for the ceremony, Shultz for the Indian ceremony and Balenciaga white ankle boots for the wedding. They even all got a mention in Harper’s Bazaar.
