For a luxury automotive retailer, where you invite a client matters as much as what you invite them to drive in. JCT600 hosts client driving events across its areas of influence, and for them the location, the venue or where it is matters as much as the test drive itself. They needed a setting that could do several things at once such as sit within easy reach of Leeds, offer genuinely brilliant driving roads and provide the privacy and exclusivity a high-net-worth audience desires.
Above all, the venue had to match the calibre of the cars themselves. Some of the world’s finest motorcars deserved a setting to equal them – beautiful cars, in a beautiful place, and a synergy of brand and heritage that few venues can offer.
Few venues can offer a backdrop quite like Birdsall’s. Home to the same family for over five hundred years, it is a living heritage estate and that history is felt the moment guests arrive. For a brand hosting its most valued clients, there is a quiet symbolism in providing a setting that mirrors the standards of the brand itself.
Birdsall is also far more than a driving backdrop. From the grand entrance of the Long Hall to elegant state rooms, contemporary spaces such as The Old Kitchens and acres of parkland, the estate adapts to whatever an occasion asks of it, which is what makes it a natural fit for so many kinds of client hospitality.
At Birdsall House, guest experience is at the heart of everything. Andrew, the Birdsall butler, and the team greet every visitor personally, building rapport from the moment a client arrives. It is a warm, attentive welcome that sets the tone for the whole occasion. Lady Cara, Harriet and the team know the brands way of working inside out and become, in effect, an extension of JCT600’s own team.
They understand the logistics intimately from who is arriving and when, to whether there is time for tea before a client heads out on the test drive. Nothing is left to chance, and a final sense-check is run before guests arrive to ensure everything is exactly as it should be.
Unlike many venues, Birdsall House is not a hotel but a home. Lady Cara is often there in person, welcoming guests into the house and taking them through its history. Guests know they are stepping into something real, a living estate, beautifully presented, with heritage and warmth in equal measure.

A JCT600 driving day at Birdsall is created with care. The cars are collected from the branch and set up on the drive well before guests arrive. They are all parked for maximum impact outside the beautiful exterior of Birdsall House with signage in place, and everything staged for that first moment of arrival as clients sweep up the long driveway into the house.
Guests are welcomed into the Long Hall, the estate’s beautiful entrance room, where teas and coffees await, a calm and elegant first impression as the day begins. Guests are invited to relax and settle in whilst Jane, the housekeeper, and Andrew provide refreshments before heading out onto the roads. Birdsall’s catering anchors the day, turning a test drive into a genuine occasion.
The driving roads are a large part of what makes the estate work for an event like this. They range from open, sweeping stretches to quieter lanes with wide views across the estate and the Wolds beyond showcasing quality and variety in equal measure. The route also carries real historical interest as it follows the line of an ancient Roman road, passes a prehistoric Iron Age monument and runs close to Wharram Percy, one of England’s best-known deserted medieval villages.
And because JCT600 accompanies its guests throughout, the Birdsall team steps in naturally with plus-ones. Those who aren’t driving are welcomed into the house for a personal tour led by Lady Cara herself, walking them through five centuries of family history and, quite often, the very spaces where a landmark birthday, anniversary or wedding might one day be held. It is another way the team becomes an extension of JCT600’s own, and a point of difference few venues could hope to match.

Every JCT600 driving day has a commercial purpose, but it is as much about relationship as business. A client may not be in the market today, but giving them the opportunity to test drive, in a setting like this, plants something that lasts. Birdsall’s role is to make that experience memorable enough to matter and to reflect well on the brand long after the day is done.
“Birdsall gives us something an ordinary venue can’t, beautiful cars in a beautiful place, and a team that treats our clients as their own. It’s become our home for driving events in North Yorkshire.”
