We are delighted to announce that our historic house is re-opening for viewings. We are staying in line with government guidance for private tours and wedding venue viewings. You might be an engaged couple looking for a wedding venue, a stylist or brand looking for a place to shoot photography or a production company looking for a filming location.
The house will open for viewings again on Monday 15 June by appointment only. Appointments will be restricted to two per day. We know many couples are keen to bring parents, family or friends with them to view their potential wedding venue. So, we are welcoming a maximum of four people per visit.
Adapting to people’s changing needs following the Covid-19 pandemic, the library will also now be available for wedding ceremonies. A room previously kept for private use it suits smaller gatherings for 25 people and is licensed for civil ceremonies along with a range of locations within the house and grounds:

This means the entire main wing of the house is now available for exclusive use for weddings and events. Couples can host weddings unique to them and have the day they want even if required to follow social distancing practises.
The house was built on the ruins of a monastery from the twelfth century. Some of these ruins still visible at the front of the house.
Birdsall House has so much history yet this latest challenge has certainly never been seen before. It is obviously a very uncertain time but Birdsall lends itself well to these ever-changing restrictions. We never book in more than one event per day or one wedding per weekend. This means you can book with confidence knowing that should social distancing measures be eased you can adapt your event. For example, you may plan to say your vows in the temple with guests spread around you in the fresh air.
However, if developments mean you would then be able to marry in the ballroom with guests seated more traditionally this is easily achieved. We take a lot of pride in our home. We’ve relished helping families celebrate big moments since opening to the public in April 2018. Now, we hope to continue to make these celebrations possible no matter what.
There is limited availability for weddings at Birdsall House in 2021 but bookings are now open for 2022. To book historic house viewings at Birdsall, email [email protected].
